Married:: Nicole & Jeff

- Photography by Heather.

Nicole & Jeff were married at St Roberts Church in Windsor Locks on November 11, 2011, and their reception took place at The Simsbury Inn.

Nicole & Jeff met on August 30, 2004 while both were attending Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania. Nicole told me “I was a freshman, and it was my first day, so I wanted a tour of the campus. Jeff, being a junior and knowing the campus well, offered to show me around. The tour turned into dinner and long conversation that night and we’ve been together ever since! Even though Jeff lived in Connecticut and I lived in Pennsylvania, we would both travel to visit each other during vacations from college, and managed to make our long distance relationship work. After graduation, I moved to Connecticut to be with Jeff. On December 27, 2008, while visiting my parents in Pennsylvania, Jeff decided to take me back to Lebanon ValleyCollege to walk the campus and reminisce. The campus was closed for Christmas break, so we had the entire campus to ourselves. After walking most of the campus, we arrived at the exact spot where we had first met. Jeff, pretending to be ‘tour guide’ again like the day we first met, said to me, “…and here is the spot where we first met…and the spot where I asked you to marry me.” With that, he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said YES!”

Nicole & Jeff purposely waited nearly three years to be married on 11-11-11, a perfect palindromic date that they had always talked about. They also chose to have an infinity theme to their wedding as a representation of their endless love for each other.They incorporated the infinity symbol into their in subtle ways – in the invitations, wedding cake, napkins, and on ring that Nicole wore on their wedding day.

Mississippi Christening Ceremony

- Images thanks Electric Boat’s staff photographers.

On December 3rd, we were honored to provide audio and video production for the Mississippi SSN 762 Christening Ceremony at Electric Boat in Groton.

When I asked Al Vagnini, the owner of Powerstation & production designer about the event, he told me “It was a challenge to cover an area this large, and give the over 5000 people in attendance the best seat in the house. We had an amazing team of engineers and a fantastic camera crew that made it flawless, and I am very proud of the production”.

In order to make every attendee feel like they were “right there”, the pier was lined with 20 flat-screen TV’s and fed a live broadcast from 5 different camera angles; all produced on site. We also had our QSC Wideline Speaker System and over 20 speakers distributed along the pier for optimum sound quality and fluid distribution.

Special thanks go out to our very talented tech crew (pictured below):

Michael Wirsing, Chris Vagnini, Al Vagnini, Chris Savard & Jim Manger, and the video team. Who with out them, this event would have been impossible.

What an amazing historic event to be a part of. We look forward to many more!

Married :: Jenna & Chris

Some people will remember October 29, 2011 because of the snow, some will remember days without power… but for a lucky few it will be remembered as the best night of their lives. Let me set the scene for you…

It was an ordinary October day, except that on this October day they were calling for snow. People said “Don’t be crazy, its October…. its not going to REALLY snow.” But snow it did!

Jenna and Chris had planned an intimate evening wedding. Attended by about 65 guests and officiated by Chris’ father. The ceremony was slated to begin at 4:30… but because of the weather, we decided to give some of the guests a little extra time arriving. At about 4:50 the ceremony began, and Jenna walked down the isle to be married to Chris. Even though they were not married in a church, Chris’ father conducted the ceremony much in the same way. About 5 minutes in, just as he was beginning his homily it went silent… and dark. Its funny how much white noise lights and fans make. I expected to see Jenna’s face drop, a tear well up even… it would have been acceptable. But she didn’t flinch. It was romanic, the silence, the sound of snow falling outside, and Chris’s father’s voice echoing their vows throughout the atrium at the hotel. It was just becoming twilight, but the candles that Jenna & Chris’ mothers lit gave a warm glow to the couple. After they kissed, and were pronounced husband and wife Jenna and Chris walked up the isle to Rich playing their processional music on his iPhone. It wasn’t loud, but loud enough so that when you walked by, it put a smile on your face… because we were making it work.

As we headed out to document some snowy images, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour. There was an abundance of appetizers, and champaign… although we were informed that dinner was not so lucky. But no one seemed to care. They were all togther, safe and celebrating this joyous occasion.

 The staff at The Avon old Farms was so great. They were able to put together salads and pasta, while Jenna’s sister and Chris’ brother toasted the couple and then Chris’ father blessed the meal. Hundreds of candles illuminated the room, and people mingled and ate. Thanks to our road crew we were able to have a generator delivered, and with a flip of a switch we lit the room pink and Rich began playing “Let it Snow”. The guests went wild, singing along and laughing.. and the night was saved. Jenna and Chris had their formal introductions as husband and wife, their first dance, dances with their parents, and after cutting their cake the party went crazy!

At the end of the night Jenna’s father asked the entire staff of the hotel to come out and be recognized, along with myself and Rich, and one of their guests snapped a shot of all of us. Its a reminder that its not all the fancy stuff that makes a wedding. its about love, and people to share it with.

Jenna told me ”We wanted our wedding to be memorable not only for us, but for our family as well.  We stayed organized and kept our planning process simple so we could focus on having an amazing time when the day finally arrived.  Not only did we have a phenomenal time, but our guests had an evening they will never forget.  Some people will remember that night because of the hardships they faced because of the storm, but we will remember it for the incredible time we had in spite of it.  Without the hard work of the staff at The Avon Old Farms Hotel, our photographer Heather and our DJ Rich, we never could have had such an unforgettable night!”

So now that you know the story… get to know the couple.

Meet :: Jenna and Chris

Jenna and Chris met back in 2006 through mutual friends and reconnected in February 2009.  Coincidentally, they were both heading home from dinner with their parents one Sunday night.  Jenna was stuck in traffic, looked through her phone and found Chris’s screen name.  She asked him if he remembered her, and he said of course!  They started hanging out and it was like no time had passed.

When Chris got home on Friday March 18, 2010,  he “acted” very stressed after a long day and headed to the kitchen.  He slammed things around in the fridge looking for a snack and complained how it looked like something was going bad.  Not thinking anything of it Jenna went into the kitchen to see what he had found.  As she entered the room Chris closed the fridge door and was kneeling behind it holding the ring and proposed.  He had designed the ring with his Grandmother’s diamond, two other diamonds passed down in his family, and two pink tourmaline stones because Jenna’s favorite color is pink.  That Sunday was Jenna’s birthday so in addition to celebrating that with family and friends, they were able to celebrate their engagement.

Jenna & Chris both love modern design so they chose black and white to reflect their clean/modern taste and added accents of pink as a pop of color.  Jenna said “We aren’t traditional so we wanted something to stand out rather than blend in with the colors of Fall.  Mother Nature obviously wanted to coordinate with the snow we had on our wedding day!”

Jenna and Chris, its clear that your love will last through anything, and I wish you nothing but the best. Enjoy the sneak peek of your day!

Married :: Kelley & Scott

- Photography by Heather.

Kelley & Scott were married at the Saybrook Point Inn on October 1st. They are an amazing, hilarious couple, and I’m in love with their wedding! They gave me so much creative freedom, and trusted me the whole way through. One of my favorite things we did was their “first look”. It is such an intimate, special moment for modern couples, and I just adore capturing it.

Kelley told me “Scott and I chose to do a “first look” mainly because it would have been too dark to take pictures outside after our October ceremony. I could not be happier with our decision to do it! It was so special to have that time together just be between us, instead of in front of 150 people. I had been really anxious all day and once we were together all of my nerves were gone and I was able to just enjoy myself. It was also so great to be able to actually attend our cocktail hour instead of having to worry about pictures. Our guests were surprised and excited that the whole bridal party was done with the formal pictures and able to be with everyone.”

Kelley and Scott met at a restaurant in Tolland named Tavern House Grill, where Kelley was bartending and Scott’s band was playing.  Scott proposed at Kelley’s grandmother’s beach cottage at Black Point Beach, where she has been spending summers there since she was born. Both of their families were together for Labor Day and Scott knew it was the perfect place to pop the question. After dinner the two of them walked down to the beach and he proposed at sunset. Then they went back to the house where their families were waiting to celebrate! Kelly said “It was perfect!”

Kelley and Scott wanted an elegant and romantic wedding. The bridesmaids wore gorgeous navy tea-length dresses and carried beautiful ivory and blush bouquets, and the groomsmen were styling in grey suits. Both Kelley and her sister carried lockets on their bouquets with photos of their mother who has passed. Kelley & Scott also decided to duplicate her parents ceremony program, complete with a poem written by her mother from her own wedding. There were so many little details that made the day so special for them.

Kelley and Scott, thank you so much for having me as a part of your wedding day. I wish you all the best in the future!

So… sit back and enjoy Kelley and Scott’s wedding!

Melissa & Matt were married on October 1st at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Meriden, Ct. They met on eHarmony and Melissa said “ We knew early on in our relationship that we were going to get married, but I made him wait until I finished grad school even though he had the ring for months.  The proposal was a simple and private at our apartment.”

Matt & Melissa wanted to stick to a simple fall color palette for their October wedding. Their reception was held at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station. Here is a sneak peek of their wedding day!
