When one of our brides came to us with the idea of carrying a wedding flower purse instead of a traditional bouquet, our In Bloom Event Designs team immediately fell in love with the challenge.

The inspiration photos were beautiful, but they didn't answer the biggest question: How do you actually build one?

For days, our team researched mechanics, tested ideas, and studied every detail. We wanted to create something that wasn't just beautiful for photos but could actually be carried throughout a wedding day.

Then came the next challenge.

Fresh flowers need water to stay vibrant. A traditional bouquet is designed differently, but a flower purse has to be lightweight, comfortable to hold, and still keep every bloom looking fresh from the ceremony through portraits and into the reception.

After plenty of brainstorming, our Lead Floral Designer, Michelle, finally cracked the design.

After plenty of experimenting, our Lead Floral Designer, Michelle, found the perfect solution. Using floral cages, metal purse handles, and floral foam, she engineered a design that kept the flowers hydrated while creating the look of an elegant handbag. The hidden mechanics allowed the florals to stay fresh throughout the wedding day without sacrificing style. A major win!

Honestly, this felt less like making a bouquet and more like sculpting wearable art. This living handbag blends fresh roses, sleek anthuriums, delicate clematis, eucalyptus, calla lilies, and trailing amaranthus. Every stem is thoughtfully positioned to catch the light and create natural movement from every angle, from any side!
